About Some of Our Products
Searching for a kitchen to live in as she pleases, Designed by GG Santiago and distributed by Enesco, these collectible pixies are made of stone resin and clear acrylic. Each has a theme involving home, heart and, of course, kitchens. Each comes with tag and box. Artist and designer GG Santiago is widely respected in the world of fine collectibles for the special quality of her work, which combines genuine emotion, compassion and exquisite detail in all her images. Her magical collection of figurines have become a phenomenal success, touching so many hearts with a true essence of the enchanting delight of fairies. Jim Shore Heartwood Creek Collection: These beautiful collectibles are meticulasly designed down to the finest detail and made of stone resin. Jim Shore creates his popular works of art based on his deep appreciation of handcrafted quilts and folk art textures, and by drawing on his nostalgic childhood memories. A native of South Carolina, Jim Shore utilizes his skills as a portraitist, sculptor and folk artist to create his unique and creative collection for Enesco Home Gallery. His current collection, Heartwood Creek, combines tabletop and figurines to create a charming and innovative, classic American country décor statement. A self-taught artist, Shore worked as an engineer before turning his full attention to art. He has painted in a variety of media including watercolor and egg tempra, a technique made popular by artists Andrew Wyeth and Bob Timberlake. Shore has also perfected his technique in silver and gold-smithing, wood carving, stained glass, furniture making and sculpting in stone. This collection combines folk art appeal with authentic quilt designs to create rich, colorful figurines and accessories. Each figurine features a hang tag or title that tells a story to add an additional dimension of quality to the line. Sherratt & Simpson is a Staffordshire, England company. In October 2001 Country Artists, located in the historic market town of Stratford-upon-Avon, England, acquired all of the Sherratt & Simpson molds and set about to re-introduce the product line to the collecting public. The products continue to carry the Sherratt & Simpson name. This line is distributed by Willitts Designs, Petaluma, Ca. Country Artists Ltd. Each box has the Sherratt & Simpson logo.
The first Pink Flamingo's came out in 1946 when a company called Union Products made them as lawn ornaments. But at that time they were only two dimensional. In 1957 a young designer by the name of Don Featherstone sculpted the first detailed plastic pink flamingo with metal legs. Border Fine Arts has a world-wide reputation for high quality wildlife figurines. There is growing interest in the secondary market with early editions significantly increasing, making this line highly collectible.
The company was founded in 1974 by John Hammond. Initially he produced bronze and silver figurines. Later, after a suggestion from a customer, He switched to hand-painted resin figurines. John Hammond is now the Chairman of Enesco in the United Kingdom.
Precious Moments collectible figurines are among the most popular in the world. Doe-eyed boys and girls made in pastel ceramics adorn the shelves, dressers, and display areas of countless homes. There are numerous types and styles of figurines that people can buy to build a personal collection in addition to the dolls and bears that so many shoppers enjoy. When shopping for your favorites, check to be sure that the item is genuine. Copycat manufacturers abound, much to a shopper's chagrin, so look at the signature label and sales tag to see if you are purchasing the collectible that you're after. If in doubt, ask the sales associate for assistance. Examine it carefully for cracks, stains, or other possible impurities that could make the piece ineligible for return if you find the problem after getting it home. Try to shop on a sale day. Often, there are special events advertised in the newspaper or on television to let consumers know that these special products will be available at reduced cost for a limited amount of time. Shopping these events can save you money while maintaining the high standard of quality that you are searching for. If a sale has not been advertised recently, you can check with your favorite stores to see if they know whether one will be coming up. Another option is to contact the manufacturer directly. You can visit the online Website or write a letter if you prefer. A telephone call to the toll-free number (if one is available) is another way to inquire about upcoming promotions or sales events as well as possible discounts. You can always check eBay or Amazon as well if you don't mind buying used. With collectible items, this may not matter if you plan to hold on to the item for collector's purposes with a view to eventually selling valuable pieces. To get some ideas for starting a collection, visit specialty shops or ask a few friends or relatives for suggestions. You may prefer to do some online browsing by searching for "collectibles" and (add a subject word) to find items of personal interest. Then find a safe, attractive storage or display area for your new items. Continue to add pieces as funding becomes available. Over time, you will be able to enjoy the variance and value of your collection before selling it or passing it along to someone else who will enjoy it as much as you have. |
